AMBASSADOR

AMBASSADOR

AMBASSADOR

They call him THE …The A-M-B-A! Born William “Duce” Branch, he represents what appears to be two clashing cultures—the Kingdom of God and hip hop.
THE AMBASSADOR, a founding member of the critically acclaimed group The Cross Movement, stands as a shining example of how hip hop can be properly submitted to God while avoiding the typical corruptions commonly associated with it. This tricky navigation did not develop without a struggle, but God has clearly maneuvered this man who is destined to impact the music industry and the world.
Having been raised primarily by his father in New York City, THE AMBASSADOR came of age during the same time as the escalating new influence of the streets—hip hop. He followed the example of the genre’s heroes, in both positive and negative ways—writing rhymes that caught the attention of others and provoked the thoughts of his peers but also, unfortunately, falling prey to the urban drama of heavy drug use, petty dealing and sexual promiscuity. By his late teens, the Lord began to unravel the lies of the culture and THE AMBASSADOR found himself empty, losing vital relationships with his family and close friends and challenged with becoming a teenage father. But that pain ignited the spirit of the maturing artist, instilling in him an appetite to impact the hip hop culture with a refueled faith.
THE AMBASSADOR began studies at Philadelphia Biblical University (formerly Philadelphia College of Bible), eventually graduated from Lancaster Bible College and then went on to receive his Masters in Theology from the prestigious Dallas Theological Seminary (DTS). He went on to co-plant and co-pastor an urban church in North Philadelphia and these fruitful years also brought forth his marriage to Michelle Branch and five children.
Making his mark in music with a groundbreaking debut solo album Christology: In Laymen’s Terms, THE AMBASSADOR began delivering intense scripturally rooted lyrics set in poetic, dynamic flow. His successful sophomore CD The Thesis, and a GRAMMY® and Stellar nominated project HIStory: Our Place In His Story (with The Cross Movement) soon followed. His third solo offering, The Chop Chop: From Milk to Meat proved to be a deep, weighty collection for Christians that are hungry for real truth and ready to mature.
He has toured globally as a solo artist and with The Cross Movement, and he has been covered by Christian and mainstream media outlets as diverse as Time Magazine, CCM Magazine, VIBE, The Source, Billboard and The Washington Post. His TV appearances include BET’s “106 & Park Presents: Generation Gospel” and “Bobby Jones Gospel,” TV1’s “The Gospel of Music with Jeff Majors,” CBN’s “700 Club” and TBN’s “Praise the Lord” and “Real Videos.”

Vision Mapping & Forecasting

Your community and the people in it are constantly changing. In the words of George Barna, “There are three types of people when it comes to the future: those who will watch what happens, those who will make it happen, and those who will wonder what happened.” The tools that you employ, perspectives that you take, and vision that you have will impact which of these three people you will be and therefore impact whether your church remains relevant and your influence impactful.

Christopher “Play” Martin

Christopher “Play” Martin

Christopher “Play” Martin

A Queens, N.Y. native, Christopher “Play” Martin is considered a pioneer in the entertainment industry. As half of the iconic and groundbreaking Hip Hop duo “Kid ‘n’ Play,” he has contributed to some of the most defining moments in popular culture.
Christopher is a celebrated, award-winning and self-taught documentarian, and founder of cutting-edge production company Playground Solutionz, which develops and produces short and full-length multimedia projects.
He recently served as a professional in residence at Florida A&M University in the Music Industry & Hip Hop Institute. He previously served in this role at Miles College, North Carolina Central University and Healthy Start Academy Charter School.
In addition, schools, churches, community organizations, and groups from around the nation have called upon Christopher to deliver empowering, insightful and inspiring keynote addresses and presentations. These include: Duke University, Stanford University, Florida State University, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the University of Illinois, and Western New England University.
Christopher is a recipient of the 2007 New York International Film Festival Award for “best full-length feature documentary” for his production work on “Welcome to Durham.” He has also received Grammy and Stellar Award nominations for his production contributions to “Taking the Gospel to the Streets” Volumes 1, 2, and 3 and the successful release of “Holy Hip Hop the Movie” a DVD documentary. He’s completing three additional documentaries titled: “Can Hip Hop Go To School?,”
“… AND iDANCE,” and “The Marching 100.”
In 2006, after a life-changing incident, which left him incapacitated and faced with learning to walk again, Christopher was inspired to create the multimedia news company Brand Newz. For Christopher, the painful experience was anything but an accident. During his recovery, his time was spent praying, reading and reflecting. He found himself engulfed in watching biographies, documentaries and 24-hour “news” networks.
What he saw on the news was disappointing and awakened him to the reality that the stories being told by mainstream media were filled subjective reporting and misconceptions that served the purpose of dividing and discouraging people,
instead of unifying and uplifting them.
He furiously asked, “Why isn’t there a network that focuses and reports on the positive people and events occurring in today’s society?” His question was divinely answered with another question: “Why don’t you do something about it?”
From that point on, Christopher has been dedicated to producing content that tells the often-untold stories of the inspiring people and moments that impact our world every day, stories which reveal that “Hip Hop Has A New Direction,” and that direction is up!

DJ Morphiziz

DJ Morphiziz

DJ Morpheziz

As a culture, hip hop has always thrived on originality, deeming it, truth be told, its most notable attribute. Since the 1970’s, it’s been understood that, when it comes to self expression, holding fast to ones identity is key. Translation: no one likes a biter. DJ’ing, the most foundational element of hip hop is, arguably, quite essential to the advancement of the genre. This is, in large part, how the DJ communicates; he scratches, he mixes together thuds and echoes and reverberations to form a composition. This is his language, his contribution to the mess that is the music pot.
For over a decade, DJ Morph has remained a staple in the genre, commonly regarded as one of the premier Dj’s of our market. With five nationally distributed albums, a Dove award nomination and extensive travels both nationally and internationally with artists such as KJ-52, Trip Lee, Funky, Hawk Nelson, Derek Minor (F/K/A Pro) and Thi’sl, DJ Morph has shown no signs of slowing down. His stylistic approach to music ministry has made him one of the most sought after Dj’s. One can attribute DJ Morph’s success not only to unquestionable work ethic, but also to the deep sense of purpose he lends to his craft. Having toured across Latin America, Europe, and Asia several times over, DJ Morph has been privileged to communicate his passion for God and for his artistry with thousands, inspiring the young and the old alike to live with a purpose worthy of their God-given potential. His global mindset is what made his 2008 release, International, the breakaway success that it was. Hailed by Rapzilla.com as, “amazing on so many fronts”, International brought together artists from all over the country, using imaginative, commercially accessible production and top notch lyricism to urge the listener toward global sensitivity in relation to evangelism. With five critically acclaimed releases under his belt, Dj Morph is currently hard at work on his next major release, appropriately entitled, i2. The project will again assemble artists from around the world to form a musical landscape poised to push the limits of sound while delivering a message of truth and hope.

Jerome Vierling

Jerome Vierling

Lead Pastor of City Life Lansing

Jerome Vierling

Jerome has been serving the Lord since 2002. After living a life of drugs, anger, partying, and much more God transformed his life and since Jerome’s life has never been the same. After making music for the world for 7+ years, the Holy Spirit began to show Jerome in 2003 how he could use music to reach people for Christ and build the church. Jerome thought this was backwards because he had never heard of Hip Hop music being used by God. Since that time he moved faithfully with the call and being shaped by leadership in the church. Jerome was happy to find that God had been using many others to do the same worldwide and this provided encouragement and confirmation along the way.
In addition, Jerome likes to eat tons of sour patch kids and truly wishes they would actually count towards fruits and veggie servings for the day. Unfortunately. the FDA has yet to approve this.
“The day I became alive was the day Jesus drew me to Him”–Jerome
SOUNDSGOOD
Jerome started Soundsgood in 2003 and has vision to develop artists and multimedia projects that Share the Gospel, Make Timothy’s, and that always build bridges to extend the reach of the local community of believers (church). Jerome serves in his local church as the Youth Discipleship Director where he launched and developed the discipleship method called Get Rooted.
The current project Jerome has released is the “Second Coming”. The theme for the album is “Live today like the last, but prepare for forever”. God showed Jerome to lift Him up and He will draw all men close to Himself. Now currently Soundsgood Ministries is performing the Second Coming Concert Experience which consists of live music, acting, full video, the Gospel, and with each in attendance receiving a CD.

RISE Lead LOWER!
Jerome Vierling | City Life Lansing
Too often we take the bait thinking we need to GO BIG or GO HOME. Jesus says GO LOW or GO HOME. Planting a church isn’t something about us, it’s Jesus’ bride. Obstacles we face is really His to face when it comes to the Church. We are called to love and disciple the ONE in front of us and Jesus will build His church. So let’s RISE lower than before!

Saturday Workshop 11:30am-12:30pm

Fundraising for your ministry, We want money, but God wants more!
Ministry takes money and we want to serve God and see his ministry impact people, therefore we want money to do that. Money can be a tricky thing that can play with our hearts so quick and we can easily find ourselves fundraising for success instead of painting the picture that God wants and watching how he will fund his mission. We want money, but God wants more. Come learn how to fund-raise in a way that is beyond dollars and cents.

Lisa McClendon

Lisa McClendon

Lisa McClendon

A small town girl with a BIG DREAM that actually came true. While the other kids were outside playing, Lisa would bury herself within the soft sheets of her parents bed while indulging in classic black and white movies that introduced her to big band music. Mesmerized by the details of the music and the fashion, she had big dreams to become a fashion designer to the stars and a singer. Years of rehearsing songs like Ella Fitzgerald’s rendition of “Angel Eyes” in her hair brush would pay off in years to come as Lisa begin taking her childhood fantasy to sing to the big stage across the world and put fashion on hold. A preacher’s daughter, she was groomed for gospel while having a secret affair with jazz and big band music. With the support of her mom, Lisa continued throughout the years to embrace both the gospel world and the jazz world, infusing a sound all her own. Lisa has toured the US and has also headlined several tours of her own within the US and abroad. With 6 releases under her belt, this Dove and Stellar award nominee shows no signs of quitting. On the contrary, Lisa continues to expand her brand and her fan base within the jazz, soul and gospel community with a transparent and rich sound that resonates the heart.

Loriana de Paz

Loriana de Paz

Steps Program Director / Thrive Tampa Coordinator

Loriana de Paz

In 2002, Loriana and her husband moved from Rhode Island to Florida. In less than 6 months God led them to Crossover Church. Since then Loriana has been involved throughout the church in whatever capacity and ministry she could…from office phone calls, nursery, to now even teaching our Foundations Classes! In 2012 Loriana graduated with an Associates in Business Administration and is finishing up her B.S. in Business Management.
Growing up, Loriana knew poverty. At times having no electricity or water and living off of food bank boxes as her family struggled. These experiences only drew her family closer but also made it harder to see any hope past the life of poverty. Even through this hard time, Loriana knew that God had greater plans for her life.
Fast forward to today… Her understanding of this mentally blinding “poor” outlook on life has enabled her to work with families who are living this reality right now. In 2014, Loriana joined the Crossover Staff as a STEPS for Sucess Navigator assisting families by helping them discover Christ-centered, practical ways to rise above poverty. Each day is a new day of Hope when we put our trust in Jesus and are obedient to His call. Throughout her life, Loriana learned the precious value of God’s Words and Promises through scripture. There is no tangible item she holds closer to her heart than her Bible and hopes that she can share this same passion for His Word with all those she meets.
When she isn’t working on her school work, teaching or meeting with families, you can usually find Loriana having fun with her favorite people in the world, her amazing husband Anthony and two daughters, Elizabeth & Olivia.

Pastor Choco

Pastor Choco

Senior Pastor of New Life Covenant Church (NLC)

Pastor Choco

Reverend Wilfredo De Jesús is Senior Pastor of New Life Covenant Church, one of the fastest growing churches in Chicago. He is endearingly known as Pastor Choco.

When he was 14 yrs. old, Wilfredo applied for a city summer job and was prepared to clean streets; instead he was assigned to work at a small neighborhood church with the children’s day camp.
By the end of summer, on a day Wilfredo will never forget, he was led to Jesus and received Him as his Lord and Savior – from that moment on his life was forever transformed.
He remained in that same little church for over 20 years before he was appointed Senior Pastor in July 2000. Since then the church has grown from a weekly attendance of 120 to 17,000 globally through church plants and more than 130 ministries reaching the most disenfranchised – the broken hearted, poor, homeless, prostitutes, drug addicts and gang members.

De Jesús’s vision is simple, to be a church for the hurting that reaches people for Jesus.

To his surprise, in April 2013, Rev. De Jesus was named one of TIME Magazine’s 100 most influential people in the world and recognized for his leadership and influence with the Evangelical and Latino audiences.

Reverend De Jesus resides in the Humboldt Park community of Chicago, with his wife Elizabeth; they have three adult children, Alexandria, Yesenia and Wilfredo, Jr.
